Palmetto Bay Village - Overview

About our Village
The Village of Palmetto Bay is a vibrant community of more than 25,000 residents who enjoy its beautiful surroundings and family-oriented atmosphere. Situated immediately west of beautiful Biscayne Bay, Palmetto Bay offers unique recreational opportunities and bay access for all to enjoy! Additionally, the Village is home to excellent public schools, all of which have annually earned the grade "A" under the State of Florida's A+ Plan, as well as exceptional private schools.

Village residents enjoy the benefits of an extensive park system composed of six park facilities offering a myriad of opportunities ranging from active to passive, recreation to preservation, ground activities to water recreation, and a soon to be constructed neighborhood library. Its commercial corridor along South Dixie Highway is easily and quickly accessible from any location within Village limits. Restaurants, lodging and markets are a few of the service industries available to our residents and visitors.

Incorporated on September 10, 2002, the Village of Palmetto Bay is the 33rd municipality in Miami-Dade County. The Village extends from the centerline of S.W. 136th Street, south to the centerline of S.W. 184th Street, expanding west to the centerline of South Dixie Highway, including the center island, and east to Biscayne Bay.

Palmetto Bay offers a superior quality of life, with beautiful, safe and peaceful neighborhoods, many of which are bordered by canals. Palmetto Bay is a wonderful community to raise a family. Their local and area schools are some of the best in the County, with each Miami-Dade Public School in the Village (Perrine Elementary, Coral Reef Elementary, Howard Drive Elementary, and Southwood Middle School) earning 'A' status. We are proud of our Parks, too: Coral Reef Park - home to the champion Palmetto Bay Broncos Football Team, Perrine Park - with its basketball and tennis courts and active afterschool programs, and Perrine Wayside Park - where visitors can enjoy a peaceful picnic lakeside.

While Palmetto Bay maintains a serene hometown feel, the Village is a short commute from several busy commerce and tourist areas, such as Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami, Kendall, and Coral Gables.

The Village of Palmetto Bay, with a population of about 20,000, is a popular executive community well known for its superb public and private schools. Palmetto Bay is primarily a family-oriented community, close to local malls such as The Falls, which features Bloomingdale's, Macy's and more than 100 world-renowned retailers as well as a large movie complex.

Historic attractions include the Deering Estate at Cutler, a 420-acre park with recreational facilities, nature trails, and historic tours of the Mediterranean Revival home of Charles Deering.

Also nearby is Miami MetroZoo, rated one of the Top 10 zoos in the country, where the animals live in a cageless environment.

Nearby parks such as Coral Reef Park, and Matheson Hammock, with its own lagoon beach on Biscayne Bay, offer diverse recreational activities.
